About Us
Gate of Hope Ministries International is a Christ-centered nonprofit empowering East African refugees and vulnerable families to heal, belong, and thrive. Founded in 1995 in response to the trauma of the Rwandan genocide, our mission is to encourage, educate, and empower individuals and families through holistic, culturally relevant programs that promote spiritual, emotional, and economic well-being.
From Rwanda to Louisville, Kentucky, Gate of Hope has grown into a vibrant community of transformation. We provide trauma-informed support, education, and skill-building to help refugees integrate into their new communities while maintaining their cultural identity and dignity. Our initiatives (such as the Gosheni Initiative, Tabara Initiative, and Women and Single Mothers Program) address mental health, food security, empowerment, and protection for vulnerable women and children.
Through Christ, we restore hope and help families rebuild their lives, knowing that when our new neighbors are welcomed and supported, entire communities flourish.
